Hillary Clinton slammed rival Donald Trump at a closed-to-the-press Lower East Side fund-raiser on Wednesday — calling the GOP front-runner “an id with hair.” The Freudian low blow came as Clinton and Trump lead polls in the New York State primary.
“Really, I feel like we are watching an id — an id with hair,” Clinton huffed at the Capitale event for LGBT supporters, including Trump’s old archenemy Rosie O’Donnell, Cynthia Nixon, Billie Jean King and Michael Urie.
Clinton continued: “I am hoping that as [Trump’s] campaign keeps going, they will have insulted every American in every group in every part of our country. We could have a landslide.”
O’Donnell compared Trump to “Harry Potter” villain Lord Voldemort, spies said. Trump previously dubbed O’Donnell “a real loser.”
Meanwhile, some of Clinton’s own supporters were grousing about her event. An invite to the LGBT fund-raiser read: “Please avoid bringing large bags or coats with you, as there will be no place to store your belongings.” A guest told Page Six, “It was freezing outside, and the security line to get in was 40 minutes long.” But, “The stars like Rosie had their own special entrance.”
Instructions on the invitation also warned: “We encourage you to travel lightly . . . You should prepare for airport-style security.”
Clinton also appeared on Wednesday at the Dakota apartment of Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat and her husband, Anthony Paduano.
Spies told Page Six that while further liberal heavy hitters are lining up to host high-price fundraisers for the Hillary Victory Fund, they are being told to hold off until after she wins the nomination. “Her campaign doesn’t want to look presumptuous,” said a source.
One exception is George Clooney, who’s hosting an April 15 event in LA where couples will have to fork over a massive $353,400 for a chance to sit at the head table. The next night, Clooney will host another event — for a mere $33,400 per person.
Democratic rival Bernie Sanders has called the high-priced Clooney events “obscene.”
